Jim Van Blaricum became a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen in June, 2007 and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists in 1998. I believe he may have been a member of AAPL previously but don't have the dates. As you can see below, he is also a member of the Texas Independent Producers Royalty Organization and North Texas Oil and Gas Association. Jim Van Blaricum - The terminal is expected to cost €500 million and could meet 40% of Ireland's future energy needs. It will have four storage tanks, each with 200,000 cu m of capacity, and a 25-30 km pipeline to connect the terminal to the national grid. Daily send out of gas will be up to 1 bcfd. Operations are scheduled to start in 2012.

Jim Van Blaricum - The famous Lucas Gusher, 1901 Jim Van Blaricum - The famous Lucas Gusher, 1901 The modern oil industry was born on a hill in southeastern Texas. This hill was formed by a giant underground dome of salt as it moved slowly towards the surface. As it crept, it pushed the earth that was in its path higher and higher. This dome was known by several names, but the one that stuck was "Spindletop". Through the later half of the 19th century, Pennsylvania had been the most oil-productive state in the country. All that changed on January 10th, 1901. Native American Indians in the area had been aware of oil seeps for centuries, and used this tar they found at the surface to treat a variety of ailments. Some would even drink the stuff in hopes that it could cure digestive problems. In 1543, Spanish explorers discovered that black, sticky tar found washed up on the beaches along the Texas coast could be used to waterproof their boots. Jim Van Blaricum In the late 1800's, Texas had produced minor amounts of oil, starting with a well in 1866 drilled by Lyne T. Barret near the east Texas town of Nacogdoches. This field, known as "Oil Springs", was finally exploited again in 1888, when a crew of drillers from Pennsylvania had a well come in at 250 - 300 barels per day. This find attracted other oil companies, and it would only be a matter of time before the huge, untapped potential of the underground reservoirs was discovered. This field, like so many others in the early days of oil, was discovered when local businessmen drilled deep wells looking for water, not oil. In 1989, the Railroad Commission proposed and the 71st Legislature adopted the first incentive programs to encourage increased production of the state’s oil and gas resources. In 1997, once again, with the support of the 75th Legislature, the Railroad Commission is introducing two new incentives and a revitalization of an older incentive: the incremental production incentive; the incentive to market previously flared or vented casinghead gas; and the two-year inactive well incentive. Each of these offers either a reduction of production severance taxes or an exemption. Additionally, changes were made to the on-going enhanced recovery and high-cost gas incentive programs. The Two-Year Inactive Well Incentive program, extended by the 76th legislature in September 1999, remains a valuable opportunity for operators of inactive wells to return the wells to production with a ten-year severance tax exemption on crude oil, casinghead gas, and gas well gas produced by the reactivated wells. The filing deadline for this severance tax incentive program was extended to August 31, 2009. The Railroad Commission can certify wells for the program through February 28, 2010. Any gas well or oil well with no more than one month of production in the two-year period prior to application to the Commission for certification can be eligible. Jim Van Blaricum

The minister said Australia was "oil challenged," but Australia is a world-class natural gas province. Ferguson said Australia has about 10 years’ worth of oil supplies at current production levels without any further discoveries. For example, he said that it is as important for the nation to encourage exploration in frontier basins as it is to push for research and development of alternative fuel industries, including the potential to convert some of the country’s vast gas resources to synthetic fuels. James Van Blaricum - Multiple Zone Completion

Multiple zone completion is the practice of completing a well such that hydrocarbons from two or more formations may be produced simultaneously, without mixing with each other. For example, a well may be drilled that passes through a number of formations on its way deeper underground, or alternately, it may be efficient in a horizontal well to add multiple completions to drain the formation most effectively. Although it is common to separate multiple completions so that the fluids from the different formations do not intermingle, the complexity of achieving complete separation is often a barrier. In some instances, the different formations being drilled are close enough in nature to allow fluids to intermingle in the well hole. Drainhole Completion - James Van Blaricum

Drainhole completions are a form of horizontal or slant drilling. This type of completion consists of drilling out horizontally into the formation from a vertical well, essentially providing a 'drain' for the hydrocarbons to run down into the well. In certain formations, drilling a drainhole completion may allow for more efficient and balanced extraction of the targeted hydrocarbons. These completions are more commonly associated with oil wells than with natural gas wells.
